About RANDOLPH RAMKISSOON

About Randolph Ramkissoon

Hello there! My name is Randolph Ramkissoon, and I proudly call the beautiful coastal village of Coast 277 Back Street, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home. As a fisherman, I have the privilege of working the bountiful waters that our ancestors have relied upon for generations. There’s truly nothing like the thrill of casting my net and bringing in a fresh catch, whether it’s the sweet taste of a snapper or the succulent curry crab that’s a staple at our family gatherings. My heart lies deep in the rhythms of the river, and I cherish the stories shared by fellow fishers who understand the intimate bond we have with the land and sea.

Guyana may be small and often unknown to the broader world, but we carry a rich culture that resonates through our vibrant music, delicious dishes, and warm community ties. From the bustling Stabroek Market to the serene beauty of the Angel Falls (which, for the record, is in Venezuela!), every corner of our homeland tells a story. I take immense pride in our unique blend of cultures, and I love to showcase our traditional recipes, especially the flavorful pepperpot, during family celebrations. It’s the little moments, like sharing a meal with loved ones or a good laugh at a local event, that truly embody the Guyanese spirit.

As part of the diaspora, I remain connected to my roots and the Guyanese community scattered across the globe. I believe in the power of storytelling to foster understanding and appreciation for our culture. Good vibes and support from my fellow Guyanese, whether it’s a thumbs up on social media or a chat about fishing spots, makes this journey worthwhile. Let's continue to share our stories and celebrate the beauty of being from Guyana, together!
