Growing up in Guyana has taught me the importance of community and resilience. The struggles our country faced during the dictatorship from 1964 to 1992 have shaped who we are today. Many of my friends and family have migrated to the USA, Canada, and the UK, but our bond remains strong through shared memories of festivals, the sounds of chutney music, and the beauty of the Essequibo River. I often reminisce about the simple joys of life back home, from family gatherings to the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce.
As I work hard to support my family, I also strive to keep the spirit of Guyana alive in everything I do. I believe in sharing our traditions and stories with the world, and I take pride in representing my culture wherever I go.
