Greetings from the heart of the Essequibo Coast! My name is Ranjit Hardeo, and I am proud to call Dunkeld my home. As a dedicated farmer, I cultivate the rich, fertile lands of Pomeroon-Supenaam, where every sunrise brings the promise of fresh produce. Whether it’s cassava, sugarcane, or our beloved rice, my connection to the land is deep-rooted, much like the traditions of my ancestors who have thrived in this vibrant region.
Growing up in a community where everyone knows each other, I often reminisce about the bustling markets filled with the aromas of pepperpot and curry. The camaraderie among neighbors, exchanging stories over a plate of cook-up rice, embodies the spirit of Guyanese hospitality. I also cherish my memories of the Pom River, where many of us gather for fishing and family gatherings, celebrating the simple joys of life in nature's embrace.
Though I have settled here, my heart reaches out to the Guyanese diaspora around the world. I believe that we carry our culture with us, no matter our location. From sharing recipes to celebrating festivals like Mashramani and Diwali, we stay connected to our roots. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
