Hello! My name is Ravindra Charran, and I’m proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots run deep in the rich culture and vibrant community of Guyana. The aroma of fresh cook-up rice and the sound of laughter during a family gathering remind me of the warmth that our people share, whether we’re gathered around a pot of pepper pot or celebrating at the annual Essequibo Regatta. It’s these moments that truly embody the spirit of our land.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I take pride in the breathtaking landscapes that surround us, from the lush mangroves to the winding rivers that flow like veins through our land. I often reminisce about the stories passed down from generations, of the POM and River Waipaqua Island, where our ancestors built their lives and where we continue to honor our heritage. Whether it's discussing our history or sharing our favorite local dishes, I believe it's essential to stay connected to our roots, especially as part of the Guyanese diaspora.
Through my journey, I've cultivated a love for exploring the diversity of our communities, both at home and abroad. I cherish the connections we have with one another, whether it’s through the rhythms of soca playing on Liberty Avenue in NYC or sharing heartfelt conversations with friends and family scattered around the globe. Together, we celebrate our Guyanese identity, embracing the colorful blend of cultures that make us unique, and I’m excited to continue sharing this journey with all of you.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
