Hello and welcome! My name is Ray Calvan, and I proudly call Pomeroon, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana, my home. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the flavors of our beloved cook-up rice to the rhythmic beats of our traditional music. I am passionate about sharing the warmth and spirit of Guyanese life, whether it’s through a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or a chat about our iconic landmarks, like the stunning Kaieteur Falls.
Having spent some time connecting with the diaspora, I understand how vital it is to maintain our roots, even when we find ourselves far from home. Like many of my fellow Guyanese, I cherish the community bonds that tie us together, from Liberty Avenue in Jamaica Queens to Botswana, where I’ve met friends who share the same longing for the homeland. It’s this connection that fuels my desire to showcase the beauty and potential of our country to the world while also advocating for positive change within our communities.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
