Hello! I’m Rayan Sarjoo, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the vibrant community of Bank Essequibo 4 North Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As someone who has experienced the warmth of our local cuisine, I can't resist a good roti with curry or some fresh fish from the Essequibo River. Each meal tells a story, reflecting our unique blend of Indigenous, African, and Indian influences. I often hear comments from friends and family in the diaspora, reminiscing about our beloved foods and the shared experiences that bind us despite the miles between us. The laughter and joy around a dinner table filled with food is a cherished part of my life.
Living in Guyana has its challenges, including the disparities in wealth and safety that many of us face. However, I remain hopeful. The beauty of our land and the resilience of our people remind me of the strength we carry within us. I’m committed to contributing positively to my community and encouraging others to invest in its future. After all, this is our home, and together we can make it thrive.
