Greetings! My name is Renneta Mantoos, and I proudly call Lower Pom River Grant my home. Nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my community thrives on the rich traditions and vibrant cultures that make Guyana such a unique place. As someone who has experienced the warmth and resilience of our people, I am passionate about sharing the stories and flavors that define our way of life. From the aromatic spices of pepper pot to the lush landscapes along the Pomeroon River, every aspect of our culture is a celebration of our heritage.
Having grown up in a former plantation society, I have witnessed firsthand the evolution of our political landscape and the ongoing challenges that come with it. The echoes of our colonial past resonate in our current struggles and triumphs. I believe in the potential of our nation to rise above the remnants of neocolonialism, and I remain hopeful for a brighter future that honors our roots while embracing progress.
As a resident deeply connected to my community, I cherish the relationships I’ve built with neighbors and friends, many of whom have spread across the globe. It’s heartwarming to see our diaspora thriving, yet I often find myself eager to hear their stories and reminisce about home—be it the sounds of the river or the taste of a warm bowl of pepper pot.
