Hello! I’m Rhonda Boston, a dedicated security guard residing along the beautiful Coast 72 Public Road in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. While some might mistakenly categorize Guyana as a Caribbean nation, I proudly celebrate my South American roots and the vibrant culture that defines us. Our diversity, influenced by Indigenous, African, Indian, and Dutch heritages, creates a unique blend that can be seen in our everyday life, from the food we eat to the festivals we celebrate.
Growing up in Guyana, I have fond memories of enjoying the rich flavors of our local cuisine, like crispy fried fish with pepper sauce or the delightful combination of pineapple and galice salt that many of us cherish. I believe that sharing a meal is one of the best ways to connect with others, whether it’s at a family gathering or a community event. The warmth and camaraderie of my fellow Guyanese—whether here or in the diaspora—remind me of our shared history and the bonds that tie us together. My work in security allows me to give back to my community, ensuring safety and peace for those around me.
As an active member of my community, I encourage my fellow Guyanese to embrace their roots and explore their connections, even across borders. Our ancestry links us to places as far as India, and it’s heartening to witness the love and respect we share on a global scale.
