Hello! My name is Ricardo Pitamber, and I am a proud fisherman from the serene village of Blenheim, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in Guyana, I have been surrounded by the warmth of our culture—whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice after a long day on the water or sharing stories with friends about the beautiful landscapes of our homeland, like the iconic St. Monica and the lush backlands of the Pomeroon. The laughter and camaraderie of my fellow fishermen remind me of the invaluable connections we forge, much like the bonds formed in the diaspora, where many of our loved ones have found new homes but still carry the essence of Guyana in their hearts.
As our country continues to develop, especially with the newfound oil resources, I remain hopeful that we can strike a balance between progress and preserving the rich cultural heritage that defines us.
