Hello! I’m Richard Chattergoon, a proud labourer from the vibrant community of Jib on the Essequibo Coast. Nestled near the Pomeroon River, my home is surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich traditions that define our unique culture. Growing up in a place where the aroma of fresh pepperpot and the sound of drumming resonate through the air has shaped my identity. The warmth of my neighbors and the community spirit we share are what make life here truly special.
Living alongside the Pomeroon River, I often reflect on the beauty of our natural surroundings, from the serene waters to the flourishing forests. My roots run deep in this region, and I take pride in participating in local events and gatherings that celebrate our heritage. Whether it’s enjoying a meal of cook-up rice with family or participating in the vibrant festivals that showcase our music and dance, each moment reminds me of the rich culture that we carry, even as many of us find our way in the diaspora.
