Hello! I’m Robert Kellawan, a proud fisherman from the beautiful coast of Demerara, specifically Ocean Garden in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Fishing has been my family's livelihood for generations, and it’s more than just a job for me—it’s a way of life that connects me to the rich waters of our land. From the bountiful catch of the Essequibo River to the vibrant marketplaces where we share our harvest, I find joy in each moment. My days are often spent navigating the waters, listening to the soothing sounds of the river, and sharing stories with fellow fishermen.
Growing up in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our culture, from the delicious flavors of pepperpot and fried plantain to the lively celebrations during Mashramani. Our community is a melting pot of traditions, and I cherish every opportunity to connect with both locals and the diaspora. Through my work, I aim to showcase the beauty of our land and the warmth of our people, whether it's through sharing pictures of my daily catches or telling tales of Guyanese folklore.
