Hello! My name is Riley Roberts, and I am a proud pastor residing in Scheme, Barima-Waini, the heart of our beautiful Guyana. Growing up in a country known for its lush rainforests and vibrant rivers, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the land and its people. Whether it’s enjoying a meal of pepperpot during the holidays or sharing stories by the Pomeroon River, my experiences have shaped my faith and commitment to our community.
As a representative of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry the spirit of my homeland with me wherever I go. I often reminisce about the lively celebrations of Mashramani and the importance of family gatherings that bring us together, regardless of where we are in the world. Guyana may not be considered a typical Caribbean destination, but our culture is rich with diversity, from our Indo-Guyanese heritage to our Afro-Guyanese traditions, which weave together to create a unique identity.
In my role as a pastor, I aim to uplift and empower those around me by fostering a sense of belonging and community. Whether through church services or community outreach, I strive to bring hope and joy to the lives of others, reminding them of the resilience found in our roots. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
