Greetings! My name is Rockel Thomas, and I am proud to call the vibrant landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a teacher, I dedicate my life to nurturing the minds of the next generation, instilling a love for learning that reflects the rich cultural heritage of our beloved Guyana. From the lush banks of the Pomeroon River to the lively streets of Georgetown, I draw inspiration from the diverse stories and traditions that define our nation.
Growing up amidst the sounds of the lower Pomeroon settlements, I have shared countless meals of pepperpot, cook-up rice, and fresh fish, which are staples that remind us of our roots. Whether it’s enjoying a Saturday at the River Bamboo Point or reminiscing about the hustle and bustle of Crow Island Wakapau, the bond I share with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora, is deep and unwavering. We carry a piece of our homeland wherever we go, and I strive to celebrate and share this connection with my students.
As I continue my journey as an educator, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of our culture and the importance of community. Together, we can face the challenges that come our way while cherishing the land we love, from the quiet corners of the River Takatu to the heart of Georgetown. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
