Hello! My name is Rodney Beaton, and I proudly call Essequibo 23 Railway Embankment home. As a miner, I've spent years working in the heart of Guyana's rich landscapes, which are as vibrant as our culture. Our connection to the land runs deep, just like the mighty Pomeroon River that flows through our community. Having witnessed the restoration of landmarks like the Umana Yana and Saint George's Cathedral, I appreciate the resilience and spirit of our people, even amidst challenges.
Growing up in Guyana, I've enjoyed diverse local dishes that reflect our heritage, from pepperpot to roti, and it’s no surprise when I say this is the best place for food in the USA when I travel! Sharing meals with family and friends is not just about nourishment; it’s about connection. While I now find myself part of the Guyanese diaspora, my heart remains in our beautiful homeland, where I often reminisce about the simpler times by the riverbanks, hearing the laughs of children playing nearby.
