Hello! I’m Rohini Sookraj, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, living in the charming community of Hampton Court Anna in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have always cherished the warmth of our rivers, from the tranquil waters of the Pomeroon to the vibrant life along the Lower Pom River where I often reminisce about childhood memories. The beauty of our rivers, like the River Paripi and its connections to our culture, continues to inspire my daily life.
As a passionate advocate for our local traditions, I find joy in sharing the rich flavors of Guyanese cuisine, particularly the beloved dal puri, which I often dip in savory meat gravy at our family gatherings. I believe that food is a powerful connector, bringing us together whether we are in Guyana or part of the diaspora abroad.
