Hello! My name is Romena Ramlakan, and I am proud to call Garden Essequibo Coast my home. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to inspire my students not only in academics but also in embracing the rich cultural heritage that defines our beautiful country. From the vibrant colors of our traditional clothing to the melodious sounds of the Tassa drums during festivals, I believe that understanding our roots is crucial for the next generation.
Living on the Pomeroon-Supenaam coast, I often reminisce about the flavorful dishes of our local cuisine. Whether it's the tantalizing aroma of cook-up rice or the sweetness of freshly made pepperpot, food is a language we all understand. I cherish the connections I've made with our diaspora community, especially those who now call places like Nairobi home, as we share stories and celebrate the diverse blend of cultures that spread from Guyana and beyond.
Through my work, I aim to foster a sense of belonging and pride in our students, encouraging them to explore their heritage while also embracing the modern world. Whether we’re discussing the beauty of Manawarin Island or the significance of landmarks like the Upper Pomeroon River, I hope to instill a sense of appreciation for all that Guyana has to offer. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
