About RONDEL ROLEX SMITH

About Rondel Smith

Greetings! My name is Rondel Smith, and I am proud to call Demerara my home. Nestled in the vibrant community of Vauxhall Canal No. 1, Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I find joy in the rich cultural heritage that permeates our lives here. From the luscious taste of pepperpot on Christmas morning to the rhythmic sounds of chutney music during festivals, every aspect of our culture reminds me of the warmth and resilience of our people. Whether sharing a meal with family or taking a stroll along the Essequibo River, I cherish the simple pleasures that connect us to our roots.

As a resident of Borada Settlement, I have witnessed firsthand the beauty and potential of our land. Our communities thrive on the spirit of togetherness, and it is this unity that drives me to engage with local initiatives aimed at ensuring our neighborhoods are well-maintained and prosperous. I believe that with honest dialogue and collaborative efforts, we can address the challenges we faceβ€”just as I often reflect on the insightful words of my fellow Guyanese who share their hopes and frustrations about our homeland.

Through my experiences and connections, I also recognize the importance of the Guyanese diaspora. Our people are spread across the globe, yet many remain deeply invested in the cultural and social dynamics of our homeland. It’s crucial for us to celebrate our heritage and maintain a dialogue that bridges the gap between those of us here and those who have ventured abroad. I look forward to engaging with both locals and the diaspora, as we continue to uplift each other and honor the rich traditions that make us uniquely Guyanese.
