Greetings! I’m Ronessa Fraser, a proud resident of Coast 240 Damon Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant and diverse region, I have witnessed the incredible blend of cultures that make our nation unique. From enjoying delicious plates of pepperpot during the holidays to the sweet melodies of our folk music, my heart is deeply rooted in the traditions and flavors of Guyana. The lush landscapes and flowing rivers surrounding us remind me daily of our rich natural heritage, although I've also seen the environmental challenges we face, such as pollution affecting our rivers and communities.
Living here, I've developed a strong sense of community, often engaging with my neighbors over local food markets and community events. While the diaspora stretches far and wide, connecting with Guyanese friends and family abroad, particularly those in Barbados and beyond, has reinforced our shared identity. Whether it’s discussing the latest cricket match or sharing stories of our ancestors, these moments remind me of our resilience and unity in the face of challenges.
