Hello! I’m Rose Benjamin, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, St. Lawrence on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant community has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot simmering during the holidays to the lively rhythms of our folk music, every aspect of life here reflects our unique blend of indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. I love to share the stories of our local landmarks, like the stunning Essequibo River that runs alongside us, and the warmth of our people who have a way of making every visitor feel right at home.
As someone who identifies with the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the challenges and triumphs of our global community. I've heard many of us express how outsiders often overlook the beauty and potential of our country, even as we navigate their misconceptions about our identity.
