Greetings! My name is Royston Solomon, and I proudly call Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up amidst the lush greenery and vibrant rivers of Guyana has shaped my identity, instilling in me a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. As a labourer, I value the strength and resilience that my community embodies. Whether it's working in the fields or supporting local initiatives, my heart beats for the land and people that make Guyana unique.
In Guyana, our culture is alive and delicious, from the spicy curries to the sweet, golden cassava pone. You'll often find me enjoying a hot plate of pepperpot on Christmas morning or sharing a bowl of cook-up rice with friends during a lively gathering. The warmth of our community is reflected in our celebrations, such as Mashramani, where we come together to celebrate our diversity and history. I feel a strong connection to my Caribbean roots, and I am proud to be part of a nation that is both South American and Caribbean, contributing to the vibrant CARICOM community.
As I navigate through life, I carry with me the lessons from my surroundings—of perseverance, community, and the simple joys of life in Guyana. I believe that even as we spread across the globe, our shared experiences and cultural connections keep us grounded. Together, we continue to uplift our Guyanese spirit, wherever we may be.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
