Hello! My name is Rudolph Thomas, and I proudly call Coast Public Road Good Hope in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana my home. As a carpenter, I have dedicated my craft to building not just structures, but also memories for families in our close-knit community. There’s something truly special about working with wood that carries the rich essence of our land, whether it’s the majestic greenheart or the versatile cedar.
Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I've always been inspired by our local traditions. I enjoy sharing a hot cup of homemade pepperpot or black cake with friends and family, especially during festive occasions like Mashramani or Diwali. Our multi-ethnic heritage, rooted in African, Indian, and Indigenous influences, is reflected in the warmth of our gatherings, the dances, and the delicious dishes we prepare together. Even though I may be here, my heart remains connected to our diaspora, with stories from relatives in places like St. Monica and beyond echoing the shared experiences of being Guyanese.
I believe in the strength of our community and the importance of building bridges—both literally and figuratively. Just as the bridge connects regions, I strive to connect with others through my work and cultural practices, ensuring that the spirit of Guyana continues to flourish, no matter where we are. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
