About RUPESH RAMOUTAR

About Rupesh Ramoutar

Hello! My name is Rupesh Ramoutar, and I am proud to call the vibrant East Bank Essequibo, specifically Parika Backdam, my home. As a dedicated farmer, I work the rich lands of Pomeroon-Supenaam, where we cultivate a variety of crops and nurture our beautiful landscapes. Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our local produce and traditional dishes, from the savory pepperpot to the sweet, aromatic metemgee. The flavors of our homeland always remind me of family gatherings and celebrations, where food plays a central role in uniting us.

Guyana’s history is complex, filled with both challenges and triumphs. As a member of a diverse community, I carry forward the stories of our ancestors who faced injustices yet fostered resilience. The unity among our various ethnic groups—Indigenous, African, Asian, and European—creates a rich cultural mosaic. Even when I connect with fellow Guyanese abroad, whether they’re reminiscing about the vibrant local markets or missing the taste of fresh cook-up rice, there's an undeniable bond that transcends borders. We may face criticism about our past, but together, we celebrate our present and future.

Through my work and community involvement, I aim to contribute positively to the development of our region while promoting awareness of Guyana's unique culture and heritage. I invite you to share in the warmth of our traditions, the beauty of our landscapes, and the richness of our history as we strive for a brighter tomorrow together. Whether you’re in Guyana or part of the diaspora, remember that our hearts will always beat with the rhythm of home.
