Hello! I’m Samantha Chase, a proud member of the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam community in Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush landscapes and rich culture inspire my everyday life. Growing up surrounded by the sounds of the Essequibo River and the aroma of spicy pepperpot and fresh cassava, I have developed a strong appreciation for our culinary heritage and the stories that bind us together.
As a domestic worker, I value the connections I build with families, both locally and within the diaspora. I carry with me the warmth of our traditions—whether it's sharing a meal of kuchoori during Phagwah or celebrating the lively festivals that reflect our diverse heritage. I often reminisce about the vibrant markets in Georgetown and the strong community ties that resonate even when we're miles apart.
Through my work and my interactions, I aim to honor our Guyanese identity, reminding others of our shared history, including the challenges we’ve faced as a community, like the tragic events surrounding Jim Jones. Yet, we persist with resilience and pride, celebrating names like Indrawattie and Nicholos that echo our family legacies.
