Hello! I’m Danny Santos, a proud Guyanese miner from Baramita, nestled in the picturesque Barima-Waini region. Growing up surrounded by the lush rainforests and vibrant rivers of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and the rich culture that thrives here. As a miner, my work revolves around the land that has provided for my ancestors for generations. I take pride in sharing our culinary delights and stories that illustrate our diverse heritage, celebrating our Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. As many Guyanese say, “I don’t say I’m Caribbean; I’m Guyanese from South America,” and I carry that identity with pride wherever I go.
For me, being Guyanese means embracing our past while looking toward the future.
