Hello! I’m Chris Amos, a proud miner from the vibrant community of Kairako in Barima-Waini, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of our lush rainforests and the mighty rivers, I have developed a deep appreciation for the land and its resources. My work as a miner allows me to contribute to the local economy while staying connected to my roots and the cultural heritage that defines us as Guyanese.
When I’m not working, you can find me enjoying some of our traditional dishes, like pepperpot, which brings the family together during special occasions. There's nothing like the aroma of marinated meat simmering in rich spices, a true reflection of our diverse cultural influences. Whether it's sharing stories over a hearty meal or chatting about our history—like the influence of the Dutch and British on our development—I love connecting with others who share my passion for our unique cultural landscape.
As a Guyanese, I take pride in our resilience and the warmth of our community. I cherish the bonds we have, both at home and within the diaspora, where we often reminisce about our rich heritage and laugh over the quirks of our accents. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
