Hello! I’m Otis Scott, a proud miner hailing from the vibrant community of Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of beautiful Guyana. My roots run deep in this land where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the lush rainforests cradle a diversity of life. As a Guyanese, food is a big part of my life. From the delectable curry dishes shared among family to the sweet taste of homemade pepperpot during the holidays, our cuisine tells a story of our Indentured and Indigenous heritage. I often reminisce about the bustling markets filled with fresh produce and the aroma of spices that fill the air—a true representation of our rich Indo-Guyanese culture. I also cherish the warmth of our communities, where connections are maintained across oceans, bringing together those of us in the diaspora, whether it’s in Trinidad, the U.S., or beyond.
