As a fisherman, I have spent countless sunrises on the water, casting my nets and bringing in the bounty of our beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. The tranquility of the rivers and the rich biodiversity around me is not just my livelihood, but also a deep-rooted part of who I am. Like many Guyanese, I have a connection to the land and sea that goes beyond mere work—it’s a heritage passed down through generations.
Growing up, our meals were often filled with the vibrant flavors of Guyanese cuisine. I still remember the aroma of curry goat roti wafting through the air, a dish that never gets old! And let’s not forget the callaloo—true Guyanese callaloo, not that spinach stuff! Sharing these culinary delights with friends and family is where the heart of our culture truly shines. As a member of the diaspora, I’ve also found joy in connecting with others who share the same love for our homeland, whether it’s reminiscing about our favorite meals or exchanging stories about the unique quirks of living in Guyana.
