About SEETA PERSAUD

About Seeta Persaud

Greetings from the Essequibo Coast! My name is Seeta Persaud, and I proudly call 84 George Street, Maria's Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a lifelong resident, I have a deep appreciation for our vibrant Guyanese culture, which is rich with diversity. With roots tracing back to the Indian indentured laborers who came to our shores in the 19th century, I embrace the traditions and flavors that define our identity. From savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays to enjoying the sweet taste of metemgee on a Sunday, food is a celebration of our heritage that I love to share with family and friends.

Living in a community as unique as ours, I often find joy in the lush landscapes that surround us. The Essequibo River, with its breathtaking views and serene waters, is not just a physical landmark but a symbol of the connection we have to our land and our history. Like many Guyanese, I cherish the bonds we create, whether it's through shared stories at the local kitchener or connections made across the diaspora. As a proud Guyanese, I believe in the strength of our unity and the importance of appreciating our differences while celebrating what brings us together.

As I engage with friends and family, both here and abroad, I am continuously reminded that our culture thrives on connection. Whether it’s inviting someone to my home to enjoy a meal or discussing the importance of our heritage with the youth, I strive to foster a sense of community. In the spirit of our ancestors who came from various backgrounds, I am committed to bridging gaps and promoting understanding among all Guyanese. Join me in celebrating our shared roots and the beautiful, vibrant culture that is distinctly ours!
