Hello! I’m Sewhmurtee Ganpat, a proud rice farmer based in Anna Regina, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My life revolves around nurturing the land, where the rich, fertile soil yields some of the finest rice in the country. Every grain carries the essence of our culture—the hard work, traditions, and flavors that remind us of home. Whether it's the scent of fresh cook-up rice wafting through my kitchen or the laughter shared over a bowl of pepper pot during Diwali, I cherish the connections my work fosters within the community.
Growing up in this vibrant area, I’ve always appreciated the serenity of the Pomeroon River and its surrounding beauty. From Kalm Watta Creek to the scenic views of Calabash Island, each corner of my homeland tells a story. I am equally connected to the Guyanese diaspora, sharing a sense of pride and a culinary love that transcends borders. It warms my heart to see my fellow Guyanese abroad enjoying dishes like dhal and rice or sharing tales of their adventures back home. I believe that even though we may be miles apart, our shared heritage keeps us close.
