About SHAMAR TIMOTHY RONALDO PRINCE

About Shamar Prince

Greetings! My name is Shamar Prince, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo 8 Farm in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a labourer, I find joy in the hard work that keeps our local economy vibrant and our communities thriving. Living in this beautiful region, I’m surrounded by the lush greenery and the soothing sounds of the Essequibo River, which reminds me daily of the simple beauty of Guyana. From picking fresh fruits to sharing stories with neighbors, there's always a sense of community here that I cherish.

Food is a significant part of my life, and I love indulging in our local delicacies like pepperpot, metemgee, and fried plantains. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a hearty meal with family and friends, especially during the holidays when we gather for traditional celebrations. I also have a soft spot for the vibrant atmosphere of Bourda Market, where you can find everything from fresh produce to crafts that reflect our rich culture. Though some may think tourists only visit there, I believe every corner of Guyana has its own unique charm waiting to be discovered.

As I navigate life as a Guyanese in a global context, I appreciate the connections I have with the diaspora. It's always nostalgic to hear a fellow Guyanese share their stories, whether they reminisce about the taste of coconut water on a hot day or talk about how our accents can be mistaken for others, as seen in some humorous exchanges I’ve come across. Whether it’s through music, food, or shared memories, I am proud to represent my roots and connect with others who share the same passion for our homeland.
