My work in the sugarcane fields connects me deeply to our vibrant agricultural heritage, and every day I’m reminded of the beauty and resilience that defines our land. As someone who enjoys the rich flavors of our local cuisine, I can’t resist a good plate of dhal puri served with curry and sour. There’s nothing quite like sharing these meals with family and friends, creating memories over traditional dishes like pepperpot—although I stick to the classics with beef! The warmth of our culinary traditions binds us together, whether we’re gathering around the dinner table in Guyana or connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora.
Guyana is on the rise, with our recent oil discoveries paving the way for economic growth. However, I believe it’s vital to cherish our rich cultural identity as we move forward.
