Hello! My name is Shameza Yakub, and I proudly call Coast Rivertown Essequibo, in the tranquil Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up in this vibrant community has filled my life with cherished memories, from the aromatic curry and roti shared during family gatherings to the serene beauty of our rivers, which remind me of the rich heritage we possess. My passion for our local culture is deep-rooted, and I strive to celebrate the everyday beauty of Guyanese life, whether it’s enjoying a cool breeze under the shade of a mangrove or savoring a plate of fresh, grilled fish from our local markets.
As a resident of Essequibo, I have seen the evolution of our landscapes and communities.
