Greetings! My name is Shanelee Garraway, and I proudly call Pom River Grant Helen's Dale in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a dedicated boat builder, I take immense pride in crafting vessels that not only reflect the rich maritime tradition of our land but also serve the needs of our vibrant communities. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our rivers and the sounds of nature, I have always felt a deep connection to the water and the life it sustains.
Being a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the warmth of our culture, from the taste of pepperpot during the holidays to the excitement of Carnival celebrations. I often reminisce about the lively gatherings with friends and family, where stories are shared over a hearty meal of cook-up rice and fried fish. The essence of our community is something I carry with me, whether Iām working on a boat or connecting with fellow expats who share our love for the land of the mighty Essequibo river.
Through my work, I aim to honor our heritage while contributing to the livelihoods of those around me.
