Greetings! My name is Shantie Samaroo, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, where I reside along the 1A Public Road East in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that shapes our daily lives. Whether it's enjoying a plate of delicious pepperpot or attending lively celebrations during Mashramani, these experiences have instilled in me a sense of belonging and pride in my roots.
Living here, I find joy in the simplicity of river life, from the gentle flow of the Pomeroon River to the camaraderie of neighbors who share stories and laughter under the shade of mango trees. I often reminisce about the flavors and scents of our local markets, where fresh produce and home-cooked meals bring everyone together. Our vibrant culture, with its unique blend of indigenous, African, and East Indian influences, is something I cherish and strive to promote within and beyond our shores.
As someone who has witnessed both the beauty and challenges of living in Guyana, I understand the diaspora's connection to our homeland.
