Hello! My name is Shaquille Patrick, and I proudly reside in West Coast Demerara at Sera Lodge Housing. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, from the sweet taste of black cake at family gatherings to the rhythmic sounds of tassa music that bring our community together. I believe that our diverse traditions, whether it’s sharing stories of the Pomeroon River or enjoying a plate of roti and curry, bind us as a nation.
As a resident of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I find inspiration in the resilience of my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. Despite challenges such as the devaluation of the Guyana Dollar, we continue to support one another, whether through community initiatives or simply sending love and blessings from abroad. I’ve witnessed firsthand the strength of our people, as many work hard to ensure that our beloved country shines on the world stage.
