Hello! I'm Shaundell Fresco, a dedicated teacher based in the heart of Essequibo, specifically at 1633 Block 8 in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the vibrant rhythms of our local culture, from the rich flavors of our traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to the lively celebrations of Mashramani. The warmth of our people is something I cherish deeply; whether it's a friendly chat on the road or sharing a meal with neighbors, it's these connections that bring our community to life.
As an educator, I strive to inspire my students not only academically but also culturally. I encourage them to embrace our heritage, whether it be through exploring the stunning natural beauty of the Upper Pomeroon River or indulging in the delicious snacks that our beloved Aunty Leena prepares during community gatherings. I find joy in showing my students the significance of our history and the importance of remembering where we come from, especially as we navigate our place in the global diaspora.

While some may view us through a Caribbean lens, I embrace our distinct identity and the rich cultural tapestry that makes Guyana truly special.
