Greetings! My name is Shawn Benjamin, and I proudly call Essequibo 1B Orangestein East, in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of Guyana, I have always been deeply connected to its rivers and forests. From the serene River Kamarang to the vibrant community of Karawab, each locale has shaped my love for our rich culture and heritage. I believe that every meal shared—whether it's a plate of pepperpot, a bowl of metemgee, or the sweet delight of a homemade guava cheese—brings us closer to our roots.
Having spent time in various roles, including a memorable stint at the US Embassy in Georgetown, I've come to appreciate the warmth and resilience of my fellow Guyanese. It’s the spirit of our community that drives me to contribute positively, especially as we embrace new opportunities with the recent oil discoveries in our homeland. While we face challenges, such as improving customer service and addressing infrastructure issues, I am optimistic that together we can foster growth and pride in our beautiful country.
