Greetings! I’m Shawn Gonsalves, a proud resident of River Grant Three Friends in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up in this beautiful region, I have always been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions that define our vibrant community. From the lush greenery along the Pomeroon River to the bustling markets filled with fresh produce, my roots run deep in the rhythms of everyday Guyanese life. You might find me enjoying a plate of pepperpot or savoring some mouthwatering cook-up rice, dishes that remind me of home and our unique culinary heritage.
As someone fortunate enough to have access to many privileges, I understand the disparities that exist within our society. I believe in celebrating the diversity of our people, whether it’s the colorful festivals we cherish or the heartfelt connections we maintain with those in the diaspora. It’s heartwarming to know that my fellow Guyanese, whether in NYC or elsewhere, share the same love for our culture and cuisine, bringing a piece of home to the world stage.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
