Greetings! I'm Dr. Shazeda Basir, a proud daughter of the Pomeroon region in beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Having spent part of my life in the diaspora, particularly in the vibrant enclave of Richmond Hill—lovingly referred to as "Little Guyana"—I've cherished the connections that bind us as Guyanese, whether through the aromas of cook-up rice wafting through the air or the rhythms of chutney music at family gatherings. I often reminisce about the simplicity of life back home, where friends and family gather in Friendship Back Lands or share stories along the banks of the Pomeroon River. These memories fuel my passion for giving back and nurturing our community, no matter where life takes me.
