Hello! I’m Sheldon Courtman, a proud logger residing in the serene Upper Pom River area, specifically on the left bank of Arapiako in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant waterways of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and the traditional livelihoods they support. My work involves not just logging, but also ensuring sustainable practices that honor the land I call home.
When I’m not working, you can find me soaking in the local culture—whether it’s sharing a meal of delicious pepperpot or fried fish with family and friends or taking a boat ride down the Pom River, reminiscing about the stories of my ancestors. I have a special fondness for places like St. Monica and Friendship Canal, where the ties of community run deep, and each corner has a story waiting to be told. The camaraderie and warmth of my fellow Guyanese, both here and abroad, make every moment spent together memorable.
