Welcome! My name is Shelena Persaud, and I proudly call Essequibo my home, nestled in the vibrant heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. The rich culture of my Guyanese roots is deeply ingrained in my daily life, where the aroma of curry and the sizzle of fried plantains fill my kitchen. I cherish the communal spirit that defines our communities, whether it's gathering for a barbecue along the Essequibo River or enjoying a lively conversation about cricket with neighbors under the shade of a mango tree.
As a resident of Parika, I am fortunate to live near some of the most beautiful landscapes Guyana has to offer. From the stunning Essequibo Islands to the lush greenery of the surrounding rainforests, I take great pride in sharing our hidden gems with visitors. I also have a deep appreciation for the vibrant diasporic community that extends beyond our shores; many of my friends and family now reside in Canada and the USA, and we often reminisce about our favorite local spots, like the bustling markets and the warmth of our festivals.
