Hello! My name is Shellon James, and I proudly call River Curimeru Settlement in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, from the savory aromas of duck curry wafting through the air to the lively sounds of calypso and soca music that unite our communities. Living here has instilled in me a profound respect for our heritage and the resilience of our people, especially those of us born before 1966 who have yet to receive the recognition we deserve.
