Greetings from Bank Essequibo! My name is Shemela Poliah, and I am proud to call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in Guyana, I have been deeply influenced by our rich cultural heritage, from the tantalizing flavors of our local cuisine—think pepperpot and roti—to the beautiful landscapes that grace our land. I often find joy in sharing these experiences with my friends and family, reminding them that there is nothing quite like 'Guy food' to bring us together.
As a resident of this close-knit community, I understand the challenges we face, much like my fellow Caribbean neighbors. Whether it's advocating for change or simply enjoying the lively chatter about our beloved land, I strive to contribute positively to our society. Our nine indigenous groups, including the Arawaks and Waraus, remind me of the diverse heritage we all share, and I am committed to celebrating this uniqueness in every way I can.
Through my work and personal projects, I aim to connect with the Guyanese diaspora, sharing stories and experiences that resonate with us all.
