Greetings! I’m Shemika Wilson, a dedicated nurse proudly serving the community at Bank Essequibo. My roots run deep in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, where the vibrant culture and rich history of Guyana shape my daily life. Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I often reminisce about the simple joys of life, like enjoying a warm roti filled with seasoned yellow split peas, or "dahl," shared with family and friends. Food, much like the bonds we create, has a way of bringing us together, and I love sharing these Guyanese flavors with my loved ones.
As part of the diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with our Guyanese heritage, whether it’s a conversation about the beauty of Waramuri Island or reminiscing about the vibrant local festivals that celebrate our diverse cultures.
