Greetings! I’m Sherland Blucher, a proud Guyanese native from the beautiful Pomeroon region in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of our land, I developed a deep appreciation for our diverse heritage. From the rich, spicy flavors of cook-up rice to the sweet allure of black cake, my culinary journey is a celebration of the incredible ingredients our country has to offer. My passion for food also extends to advocating for healthier cooking alternatives, as I believe we can enhance our traditional dishes while fostering better health in our communities.
As a manager, I embrace the values of collaboration and community that are central to our Guyanese culture. I’m dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Whether it’s through local initiatives that support our youth or participating in community events like the Mashramani celebrations, I strive to contribute positively to the fabric of my hometown and its people. After all, Guyana is known for its friendly faces and warm smiles, and nothing brings me more joy than connecting with others and sharing our rich traditions.
While I currently call Pomeroon my home, I cherish the connections we have with the Guyanese diaspora across the globe. I understand the importance of maintaining our culture, especially in the face of globalization. I believe it’s crucial to educate others about who we are, while also learning from the diverse experiences of our fellow Guyanese abroad. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
