Greetings! My name is Shevonna Munroe, and I proudly call Pomeron, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of our rivers and forests, I have developed a deep appreciation for our country’s rich cultural heritage, which is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Portuguese influences. My heart beats for the rhythms of our folk music and the tantalizing aroma of our local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which remind me of family gatherings where stories are shared as readily as food.
Being a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong connection to my roots, and I love to engage with others who share my passion for our culture. Whether it's discussing the significance of our landmarks like the stunning Kaieteur Falls or reminiscing about the days spent at the local markets, I find joy in celebrating our unique identity.
