Hello! My name is Shivdassie Dindayal, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Railway Line in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a teacher, I’m passionate about nurturing young minds and instilling in them a love for knowledge, culture, and our beautiful land. Whether it’s sharing stories from our vibrant history or teaching about the importance of our diverse ecosystems, I strive to make learning relatable and engaging for my students.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve had the pleasure of savoring traditional dishes like pepper pot with cassava bread—a staple during Christmas that fills the air with memories of family gatherings. I love how food is such a significant part of our culture, connecting us to our roots and to each other. I also enjoy exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Guyana, from the lush rainforests to the majestic rivers that remind us of our connection to nature. My experiences here fuel my passion for education and the importance of preserving our unique heritage.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with those abroad, whether it’s through sharing our culinary delights or engaging with fellow Guyanese who have settled in places like New York and London.
