About SIMONE MARCIA OLIVIA ASSANAH

About Simone Assanah

Hello! I’m Simone Assanah, a proud resident of West Bank Demerara, nestled along the scenic 89 Old Road La Grange. Growing up here, I’ve always been enchanted by the vibrant blend of cultures that make Guyana a unique place. From the lush landscapes of the Essequibo Islands to the lively markets filled with kites, cassava bread, and fresh fruits, every day is a reminder of the rich heritage we share.

My roots run deep in this community, with a special connection to the Pomeroon River area, often referred to as the Land of Promise. I cherish the stories of my ancestors and the resilience that has shaped our people, whether from River Grant or the diverse neighborhoods around. I believe that our local food—like pepperpot and cook-up rice—brings us together, bridging the gap between generations and cultures.

As I continue to embrace my Guyanese identity, I'm also deeply connected to the diaspora, reflecting on the experiences of those from River Grant and beyond. Through my work and community engagement, I strive to honor our past while contributing positively to our present and future. Let's celebrate our heritage and foster connections that uplift and inspire!
