Hello! My name is Sonia Persaud, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the tranquil area of Airy Hall, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up here, I've been surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that define our beautiful Guyana. From the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the lively markets filled with fresh local produce, each corner of my community tells a story, and I cherish being part of it.
I have a deep appreciation for our diverse culinary heritage, which includes everything from sweet and spicy pepperpot to the unique flavors of our local fruits like guava and soursop. These dishes not only nourish us but also bring families together, especially during festive occasions. I often reminisce about sharing a meal with relatives, where laughter echoes and stories of our ancestors are passed down, reminding us of our roots and the rich history we carry.
As a proud Guyanese, I also feel a strong connection to our diaspora.
