Greetings! My name is Sonia Ramnauth, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Pomeroon, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area of Guyana, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of this beautiful country has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our traditions, especially our culinary delights. From the mouthwatering duck curry that brings families together to the communal enjoyment of fresh fish from the Pomeroon River, every dish tells a story of our shared heritage.
I am passionate about connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing the love for our homeland, whether through exploring our scenic rivers, such as the Lower Pomeroon, or engaging with the diaspora. As many of us know, the experience of living abroad can be bittersweet. I find joy in celebrating our resilience and the pride we hold in our Guyanese roots, often sharing my experiences with family and friends who have ventured far from home.
As a resident of Pomeroon, I am continuously inspired by the vibrant community around me. It’s a blessing to witness how our culture thrives, whether it’s through traditional festivities or the everyday embrace of our diverse backgrounds.
